It's been too long since I've regularly used Amarra, so not much I can say there. On the other hand, I find both quite acceptable and haven't had any problems adjusting volume. I don't think the Audirvana remote is any better than Apple's Remote.

I just use Audirvana's built-in library features. You can use Audirvana in an integrated mode with iTunes - but I don't like this much.
